Constructed of hand woven tapestry, pieced fabrics, machine stitching and embroidery, Susan Hill’s fiber collages are one-of-a-kind works of art, designed and produced entirely in her Kansas City studio. Each piece reflects a glimpse of nature and observation from everyday life, often drawn from the stories, colors and patterns found in her own backyard. Her inspiration can be found in the abstract themes of her collages and rich tapestries, whether it’s nature, gardening, food or travel.
Susan’s early experience as an interior designer adds an important dimension to her work as a professional fiber artist. She draws from this background to create art that enhances and punctuates interior spaces. Susan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design from Kansas State University in 1972.
For more than 30 years, Susan has been exhibiting her work at nationally recognized art and craft fairs across the country. She accepts commissions for custom pillows, runners and wall pieces. Susan currently maintains a studio and home in Kansas City, Missouri.
